SC2010 Boys: A Journey of Growth and Achievement
When New Frontier Soccer launched in outdoor 2021, we were just a small club with a handful of teams, looking to provide a home for anyone who wanted to play.
The SC2010 Boys were one of our founding squads, a U12 team with some players who had never played organized soccer. Many joined after hearing about the quality of our coaching, but more importantly, they came to feel like someone, not just a number
From those first matches, the team has slowly built and progressed through league play - learning, adapting, and improving each season. Over the years, they’ve grown from those early beginnings into one of the top sides in the country:
Ranked 9th in the nation by FTF
U15 Tier 1 league champions this season
Provincials for the second year in a row
Select players called into the Whitecaps Select Program, where the Vancouver Whitecaps identify talent for their full-time academy
Head Coach Ross Quinton has been there from day one, guiding the group through every challenge:
“When we started, it was about giving these boys a place to belong. Now, it’s about pushing them to see just how far they can go. It’s been a lot of hard work at times, but that’s what makes it all the more rewarding to see how far they’ve come as a team”.
Few players embody the journey of this team more than Vladimr Alvarez, who has been with the SC2010 Boys since the beginning. Arriving as a beginner with little experience, Vlad has developed into Team Captain and a commanding center back - a vocal leader both on and off the pitch.
“I arrived to New Frontier raw, I didn't know how to even strike the ball. Coach Ross took his time with me and began to teach me the game. I have since learned to love this game and everything that it and this team has given to me. I have confidence, I've learned to be a leader and I have made amazing friends and all this because coach Ross saw something in me”.
The SC2010 Boys’ story is a reminder of why New Frontier Soccer invests in every player, at every level. Talent can come from anywhere. With the right environment, belief, and work ethic, even a team of beginners can climb high - with bigger goals still on the horizon!
