APDL Teams Shine at Desert Super Cup in Phoenix
Our 2012 APDL teams recently travelled to Phoenix to compete in the Desert Super Cup. Both squads competed in the highest bracket of the tournament, providing an excellent benchmark for where our Alberta based players stand against quality U.S. opposition. It was a valuable and challenging weekend, and both teams represented the club with quality, resilience, and competitiveness.
2012 Girls (Fox) – Tournament Champions
2012 Girls (Fox) showed outstanding growth across the weekend. After losing their opening match to a strong Arizona side, the group responded with stronger performances in every game, learning and adapting as the tournament progressed.
That progress set up a rematch against RSL Arizona, where the girls delivered a confident performance to secure the win, claim gold, and become Desert Super Cup champions. An excellent example of resilience, learning, and competitive maturity.
2012 Boys (O’Connell) – Strong Showing
The boys’ squad also competed well in a demanding bracket, finishing the weekend with two wins and one loss, with the loss coming against a top Arizona side. The matches provided a strong test and valuable insight into the level required to compete consistently against high-level U.S. teams.
Trips like this are a key part of our performance pathway challenging players outside their comfort zone, exposing them to different styles of play, and measuring our development against some of the best youth programs.
Well done to all players and staff involved!
